I have loged the value before an after changing and can see the value change. event is raised when an Update button within a Details View control is clicked, but before the update operation.event when an Update button (a button with its Command Name property set to "Update") within the control is clicked, but before the Form View control updates the record. This allows you to provide an event-handling method that performs a custom routine, such as HTML encoding the values of a record before updating it in the data source, whenever this event occurs. This event occurs before the data is saved to the Share Point list.To check if the name of the planet is changed, you can compare the Title column before the changes with the Title of the changed item.(no updates required since you are changing the value before it gets saved) I would verify that your Event Receiver is attached to the list.
A Details View Update Event Args object is passed to the event handler, which allows you to determine the index of the record being updated and to indicate that the update operation should be canceled. You can also use event receivers to validate the data that the user wants to change. This walkthrough is based on the first one where I have a custom list with planets of our solar system.I always forget this and when I come to create a new Share Point Event Receiver I wonder why the Before Properties or After Properties are sometimes not populated. The Synergy MOSS blog has a really good post describing exactly what properties will contain a hash table and which will be empty depending on which list type the event is coming from and in which method (e.g.
